FINAL: LSU 7, Alabama 3.

Paul Mainieri and the Tigers captured a “must-win” rubber match against Alabama this afternoon, improving their record to 31-21 overall and 14-13 in conference play. LSU’s offensive production was led by freshman Daniel Cabrera, who went 2-for-2, with four RBI and an enormous home run (7th of the season) to win the series.

Starter Nick Bush went for a career-high six innings, giving up two runs, five hits, while striking out one and walking one. “It’s not an overstatement to say he saved our season today,” said Mainieri.

LSU’s seniors Beau Jordan, Nick Coomes and Austin Bain have led the team to win every home SEC series this season. The three seniors were honored pregame for Senior Day.

The Tigers return to The Box for a midweek game against Northwestern State on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
