FINAL: LSU 4, Missouri 2.
It’s SEC opening weekend and the 10-week grind began at Alex Box Stadium on Friday night against Missouri. The Tigers were led by Beau Jordan, who blasted his fourth home run of the season. Jordan’s 413 foot bomb extended LSU’s lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third.
Sophomore Zach Watson provided some extra run support in the eighth, ripping an RBI-double down the left field line to make it 4-2.
Coach Mainieri got a fantastic outing out of his ace, Zack Hess, who would throw six innings, only allowing 2 runs and 3 hits. Nick Bush would then enter the game and throw a crucial 1-2-3 eighth inning.
Next: The Tigers return to The Box tomorrow for Game 2 of their weekend series with Mizzou. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
