FINAL: LSU 4, Texas A&M 1.
Paul Mainieri and the Tigers traveled to College Station on Thursday to begin a pivotal three-game SEC series with Texas A&M. The two teams entered the matchup both ranked in the top twenty.
The Tigers received another fantastic outing from pitcher Zack Hess, who threw eight innings, with five strikeouts, four hits allowed and zero runs. LSU then turned it over to Devin Fontenot in the ninth.
LSU’s offense came all in one inning. Antoine Duplantis led a four-run fourth with an RBI-single to centerfield to make it 2-0. Then Hunter Feduccia drove in another run with a double to left. Bryce Jordan would round out the inning with an RBI-single to make it 4-0.
Next, the Tigers return for Game 2 tomorrow at 6 p.m.
