FINAL: LSU 7, Notre Dame 6.

As if there was any doubt.

Paul Mainieri and the Tigers entered Alex Box Stadium Friday night with high hopes heading into the 2018 season. LSU clawed back from a 6-0 deficit behind a grand slam from Bryce Jordan and a three-run homer from Josh Smith in just two innings to defeat Notre Dame.

The Box was packed on Opening Night. The paid crowd of 12,844 marked the largest paid attendance in LSU baseball history.

The Irish built themselves a 6-0 lead over five innings off LSU P Caleb Gilbert. LSU’s bullpen; however, played an enormous role in the team’s comeback, as Matthew Beck and Austin Bain made a statement in relief. The Tigers will return to action for Game 2 on Saturday at 4 p.m. Zack Hess will make his first start of his career.

BASEBALL IS BACK, Y’ALL!
