We entered this series telling ourselves ‘just get one’ and as ugly as it may have seemed, we still got our wish.

LSU entered Game 3 knowing a win today would be almost essential. Well, it took some heroics, but a three-run homer in the top of the eighth by Antoine Duplantis and four shutout innings in relief by Todd Peterson gave the Tigers that must-needed win.

With today’s win, LSU improves to 31-21 overall and 15-12 in conference play. Next weekend, the Tigers host their final SEC series vs. Auburn, a series they should certainly take 2-of-3. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to host the University of New Orleans at The Box for their final midweek game. (Let us rejoice!)

“I’m so proud of our guys for giving tremendous effort and getting a well-deserved win in a very hostile environment,” said Mainieri today.
