FINAL: LSU 71, Utah 95.
The shots would not stop falling for Utah in Salt Lake City.
Will Wade and The Tigers’ rollercoaster season officially came to an end on Monday night in brutal fashion. With the loss, the Tigers fall in the second round of the NIT and end the year 18-15.
The Tigers were once again led by freshman Tremont Waters, who recorded 19 points and 9 assists. To give you any idea of how the first half went, LSU scored 30 points, while Utah scored 30 in the first quarter. Skylar Mays hit a three to cut the deficit to 47-30 at half.
Waters’ offensive spark was not enough for a comeback. The Tigers effort on the defensive end, to say the least, was uninspired. LSU still trailed Utah 72-51 heading into the fourth quarter.
The future of this program; however, is undoubtedly very bright. Head coach Will Wade is bringing in the No. 3 ranked recruiting class (247Sports) and, believe it or not, returns a lot of talent, like Tremont Waters and Skylar Mays.
Postgame quotes from head coach Will Wade will come shortly.
