LSU sophomore pitcher Cole Henry was selected No. 55 overall on Thursday afternoon by the Washington Nationals, marking the first Tiger to be drafted in the 2020 MLB Draft.

On a conference call with reporters, Henry said his plan right now is to sign with the Nationals and forgo his remaining eligibility in Baton Rouge.

LSU junior outfielder Daniel Cabrera was selected shortly after with the No. 62 pick overall to the Detroit Tigers.

Cabrera posted a career batting average of .305 during his time in Baton Rouge with 33 doubles, four triples, 22 homers and 116 RBI. He, like Henry, is expected to sign and not return to school.
