Football is back! Well, kinda.

LSU is 2/3 of the way through spring ball and just nine days away from the Spring Game, which will be played at night in Tiger Stadium. Before LSU suits up on Aprill 22nd, we thought we’d discuss a position of intrigue heading into this season. That would be the defensive line.

With the potential 2018 No. 1 NFL draft pick returning in Arden Key, the Tigers already get a big boost with his size, speed and quickness. Key will prove to be a top prospect in next years draft and one of the best players in college football this year. He is a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks, notching a school record 12 total sacks in 2016. Also returning is senior tackle Greg Gilmore, who posted 19.5 tackles last season. Gilmore is an experienced linemen who will bring leadership to next years team. Last, but not least, is Christian LaCouture, who received the honor of No. 18, given to the captain of the team each year. LaCouture missed last season with a torn ACL and is ready to learn the new scheme under Dave Aranda and Pete Jenkins.

Other notable linemen returning: Frank Herron, Rashard Lawrence, Ed Alexander.
