Ed Orgeron commented for the first time since naming Ohio State transfer Joe Burrow as the starting quarterback during the first SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday morning.

“[Joe Burrow] separated himself with his consistency. He was the most consistent quarterback throughout the whole camp,” said Orgeron. “We were installing a new offense so [Burrow] wasn’t that far behind everyone else.”

He also commented on the backup quarterback, sophomore Myles Brennan: “He’s only one play away. We expect him to be ready if called upon.” LSU takes on Miami in the Advocate Kickoff Classic in Arlington (Tx.) on Sunday night.
