Happy New Year, Tiger Nation and Happy Gameday from Phoenix.

No. 11 LSU (9-3, 5-3), will square off with No. 8 UCF (12-0, 8-0) today at noon in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl.

The Tigers will be without six-to-seven defensive starters and we’ve just got word that defensive tackle Neil Farrell will be ruled out as well with a leg injury. Dave Aranda’s defense will be put to the test and new faces will have to step up.

Farrell tweeted just hours ago, stating he will be watching from the sidelines.

“Those [new] guys are going to have to perform,” said Ed Orgeron yesterday at the Fiesta Bowl press conference.

The offense looked solid vs. Texas A&M, and with a month to prepare, should be ready to go against UCF. This will be the Tigers’ first appearance in a New Year’s Six bowl.
