The Tigers began their first day of fall camp inside their indoor practice facility.
“We had a good first day. I thought K’Lavon Chaisson had a great practice. He really stood out along with Devin White. A guy that’s really coming along is Damone Clark, a young linebacker from Southern Lab,” said Coach O.
Oregon said Ohio State transfer quarterback Joe Burrow “made some really good decisions.” Burrow practiced with the fourth team, but Steve Ensminger is expected to switch up the order to get every quarterback quality reps.
QB Justin McMillan got first team reps, Myles Brennan took second, Lowell Narcisse third and Burrow fourth. “It was Justin (McMillan’s) turn to start.”
Ja’Marr Chase was another stand out today. The freshman receiver from Metairie (La.) will clearly be an immediate contributor. “Ja’Marr is physical. He has big hands. He can catch the ball well. Very mature. He just has a natural knack for catching the football,” said Orgeron.
Offensive guard Damien Lewis “was dominant” in the first practice, too. Lewis will fill in for Ed Ingram, who has been indefinitely suspended.
