LSU beats Auburn behind bizarre walk-off finish
Hoover never fails to disappoint. It also never fails to produce some of the weirdest and wildest LSU baseball games.
The Tigers advance and live to fight another day after beating Auburn, 4-3, on a passed ball that the catcher couldn’t seem to locate. Giovanni DiGiacomo scored on the passed ball and Drew Bianco would also round third to score on an overthrow at home.
LSU will now take on the loser of Mississippi State/Vanderbilt tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network. Paul Mainieri says he has no idea yet who’s going to start.
“We might pick names out of a hat,” said Mainieri postgame.
LSU’s pitching staff is extremely thin and tired, so the decision will be interesting. Expect guys like Clay Moffitt, Aaron George or Will Ripoll to be the remaining options.
