LSU defeats Southern Miss 45-10 despite slow first half start
LSU came in as a heavy favorite, but found themselves tied at the half with the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
Then, Ed Orgeron said or did something very effective at halftime to spark a 35-0 run by the Tigers to win easily on Saturday night. Derrius Guice ran confident for 162 yards on 16 carries and led the Tigers offense without the presence of Leonard Fournette. QB Danny Etling looked strong as he threw the ball down field effectively, going 11-18, for 276 yards, and 3 TDs. Another bright spot was WR Malachi Dupre, who caught three balls for 100 yards and 2 TDs. LSU notched 459 yards of total offense. Orgeron said: “We came into the locker room and addressed those issues. Tremendous second half. I think our guys woke up a little bit at halftime.” And, boy did they ever.
This weekend, LSU takes on Ole Miss in a top 25 matchup in Tiger Stadium. Game will kickoff at 8 p.m.
