Nov 13 – There was no Alabama hangover this year, and Ed Orgeron made that very clear.
LSU ran past Arkansas from the very beginning, as Guice and Fournette combined for 350 yards and 5 touchdowns. Danny Etling, after a deflating performance in last Saturday’s contest vs Alabama, played one of his best games of the season, going 10/16 and throwing for 157 yards. The Tigers came out of the gate hot, scoring twenty-one unanswered points, and set the tone for the entire game. The closest the Hogs’ got in the game was 21-10 with 10:36 left in the third quarter.
Leonard Fournette was back to his usual self scoring two touchdowns and a few break out runs. The story of the night, however, was the play of Derrius Guice, who ran for 252 yards and 3 TDs. Guice sealed the win with an explosive 96 yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. Ed Orgeron said he “felt Derrius deserved more touches, felt we could go north and south.”
Coach Orgeron also noted he “could tell before the game [LSU] has more energy. They want to finish hard.”
LSU takes on Florida next Saturday in Tiger Stadium at 11 a.m.
