Will Wade and the Tigers squeak past Ole Miss, 80-76, on Saturday night at The Pavilion at Ole Miss behind 20 points and 6 rebounds from sophomore guard Javonte Smart. Sophomore forward Emmitt Williams scored 17 points of his own, along with seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Ole Miss star guard Breein Tyree posted a career-high 36 points for the Rebels, finishing 12-of-20 from the field with four assists and three rebounds.
“This is the start we wanted and every win on the road in big,” said Skylar Mays.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 13-4 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. Ole Miss falls to 9-8 overall and 0-4 in conference. Next, LSU will host Florida at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Tuesday night on the SEC Network.
LSU is 22-2 in its last 24 SEC games.
