Tough news for Ed Orgeron and the LSU defense.

LSU senior linebackers Donnie Alexander and Corey Thompson are “expected” to miss the Citrus Bowl against Notre Dame, according to reports. Arden Key also remains questionable, meaning the Tigers could be without their top 3 defenders against Notre Dame’s potent rushing game.

The news broke Tuesday from Ross Dellenger of the Baton Rouge Advocate, reporting that the two senior linebackers are “expected” to miss the game due to injuries, according to sources.

Alexander had his second surgery recently and has been dealing with injuries all season. Thompson, who is a sixth year senior, has dealt with his fair share of injuries as well throughout his lengthy career in Baton Rouge.

LSU takes on Notre Dame at 12 p.m. on New Years Day on ABC. For more on this situation, follow us on Twitter @InsideLSU/@HValentineLSU.
