It was a coming out party tonight for the LSU offense, led by Joe Burrow’s three touchdowns and 96 rushing yards.
It was a late kick, but LSU looked as sharp as they have all season. Starting with a Grant Delpit interception and a 21-yard Ja’Marr Chase touchdown, the Tigers jumped out to an early 28-3 lead and never looked back. Delpit has established himself as possibly the best safety in all of college football.
“Grant is an outstanding athlete,” Orgeron said. “He was a key piece of the gameplay, shutting down some of the receivers.”
Joe Burrow had his best performance to date, going 18-for-25, for 292 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. Burrow also led the team in rushing yards, with a 35-yard touchdown with his feet.
LSU now looks the bulk of their schedule in the eye, with Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State and Alabama head of them.
The Tigers will travel to Gainesville next Saturday for a 2:30 kick on CBS.
