Baton Rouge, La. — LSU sacks leader Michael Divinity has left the football team, first reported by The Athletic’s Brody Miller and confirmed Monday by coach Ed Orgeron.
With Divinity’s departure, Orgeron didn’t close the door, however, on a possible return for the Marrero, Louisiana native. Divinity tallied 5 tackles and a big sack on Oct. 26 vs. Auburn and his absence will prove to be a big loss for a defense that’s struggled to find a pass rush all season.
Divinity sat out various games this year (Georgia Southern, Northwestern State, Utah State) as a “coaches decision,” but likely due to suspension. Divinity’s nameplate has been removed from his locker in the football facility. He posted this on Instagram a few minutes ago about today’s news.
