Wednesday morning marked the annual Pro Day in Baton Rouge for LSU’s NFL Draft prospects. This is a day where guys like Donte Jackson, Arden Key, DJ Chark, Derrius Guice and others can try to improve their draft stock in front of scouts at the Football Ops facility.

In the 40-yard dash, it was an up-and-down day. Cornerback Donte Jackson ran the best time of any LSU Pro Day in school history, running a 4.31 to impress the many NFL scouts in attendance. Edge rusher Arden Key; however, ran a disappointing 4.85, which was his top time of the day. Wide receiver Russell Gage ran a 4.42.

Defensive linemen Christian LaCouture worked an impressive 41 reps on the bench for an LSU Pro Day record. His 41 reps would have been the third best at the NFL Combine this year.

A lot of the attention; however, was on Arden Key, who wanted to prove that his short absence from football had no impact on him as a player. Key said most of the teams want to know about his weight and that leave of absence he took last summer.
