LSU sophomore OLB Marcel Brooks shocked the world on Friday with the sudden announcement that his name had been entered into the transfer portal, first reported by Shea Dixon of 247Sports.

Brooks, who finished 2019 with eight tackles and 1.5 sacks, showed limitless potential as a pass rusher and hybrid-type safety. But with the switch to a 4-3 defense under Bo Pelini, his positioning heading into the 2020 season became a bit of a question mark.

That being said, coach Ed Orgeron loved Brooks, and would’ve found a way to put him on the field in many ways, whether in a starting role or backup.

Surprising news, nonetheless.
