Former LSU coach Andy Cannizaro will make his way back to Baton Rouge, this time with a trip to the College World Series on the line. Cannizaro, the former LSU assistant, accepted the head coaching job in Starkville last summer. The Bulldogs found themselves winning four straight elimination games ahead of their matchup with LSU.
Game 1 will be on Saturday at 8 p.m. CT, and televised on ESPN2.
Game 2 will be Sunday at 8 p.m. CT, and televised on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
To get to this point, LSU defeated Rice 5-0 on Sunday night behind yet another miraculous performance from freshman phenom Eric Walker. Walker threw 8 innings, struck out 8, and suffered 0 earned runs.
LSU will be at a real advantage due to their depth in the pitching rotation.
