FINAL: LSU 88, Vanderbilt 78.

It was a record setting night Tuesday at the Maravich Center. Tremont Waters set the LSU record for most assists from a freshman in a single-season. Win the win, Will Wade and the Tigers guaranteed themselves a winning season, improving to 16-11.

Waters was exceptional, posting 28 points and 9 assists overall.

“[Tremont] was sensational tonight. No doubt he was the difference in the game,” said Coach Wade following Tuesday night’s victory.

LSU’s shooting was sharp for most of the contest. The Tigers shot 62% from the field, making 15-of-20 shots in the second half. LSU also won the battle on the glass, out-rebounding Vanderbilt 42-20.

Next: The Tigers will travel to Georgia on Saturday for a pivotal SEC matchup. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 1 p.m. on ESPNU. The Tigers now have a glimpse of hope, if they can win down the stretch, at sneaking into the NCAA Tournament bubble.
