Saturday Night in Death Valley is back.
LSU will play their home opener on Saturday against UT-Chattanooga. The game will kick at 6:30 and air on the SEC Network. Times of interest will be released later in the week.
The overarching story of this game is the Mocs’ will be without their starting quarterback Alejandro Bennifield, who has been suspended from Chattanooga’s first four games of the season. LSU should be able to put this game away early and get their second team players considerable snaps.
In their first game, Chattanooga lost to FCS rival Jacksonville State 13-27. The Mocs’ also have a first year head coach, Tom Arth, who has to take on a brutally competitive schedule in his first season.
This should be a golden opportunity for LSU’s young starters and backups to gain more game reps and experience. Although inevitably a “cupcake” for the Tigers, Ed Orgeron made it clear that his team is not overlooking Saturday’s opponent. “We are going in guns loaded to win the football game. Whatever it takes,” said Orgeron.
