Ed Orgeron spoke to the media following today’s opening practice of the Spring. Here are some quotes of interest from his post-practice press conference:

Orgeron on the LSU offense:

“I really liked the direction of our offense. They spread the ball around, they moved it to our receivers, got the ball to our playmakers in space. Joe Burrow and Myles Brennan had a good day today.”

“Apu Ika was outstanding. He had a dominating day. So did Derek Stingley. I thought he had a tremendous day. Our coaches are a lot further ahead than we were at this time last spring.”

Orgeron said Joe Burrow is “still nursing” a minor injury and was in a gold non-contact jersey.

Orgeron on K’Lavon Chaisson:

“He’s looked good. He gives us confidence that we need in the pass rush. We’re going to keep him out of contact all Spring.”

“We’re further ahead. We have an excellent plan between Steve Ensminger and Joe Brady. We have two smart quarterbacks.”

Orgeron confirmed that senior cornerback Kristin Fulton and junior linebacker Jacob Phillips will be out all spring.

Orgeron on if he misses Devin White:

“Although Devin [White] was fantastic for us, you’ve got to move on. A guy I’ve been impressed with is Damon Clark. He has come along and has had an excellent offseason.”

Orgeron on Delpit wearing the No. 7:

“He came up to me and wanted to wear No. 7 and desrvingly so, I think he’s one of the best players in the country. He has great character, comes from a great family, I think he’s going to wear it well.”

Orgeron on Ed Ingram situation:

“I hope it does get resolved. I’d like to have him back if it does get resolved.”
